About Melissa Rapp

Melissa Rapp has over 20 years experience as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). In 2003, Melissa received a Masters of Social Work (MSW) degree from the University of Missouri- Columbia. Over the course of her extensive career, she has worked with children, adolescents, and adults. Her experience includes working with diverse populations in inpatient, outpatient, and school settings. She is well-versed in working with those who struggle with chronic serious mental illness, as well those adjusting to life changes. Her clinical interests are therapy with individuals diagnosed with disorders related to trauma, depression, anxiety, Bipolar Disorder, Schizoaffective Disorder, and Schizophrenia.

Melissa’s authenticity shines through in her work, as she strives to create a safe, welcoming environment for the clients she serves. She uses a client-driven, trauma-focused approach that is non-judgmental, supportive, accepting, and collaborative. She promotes self-care, healthy relationships, and positive self-esteem. She is formally trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Eye Movement Reprocessing Desensitization (EMDR). Melissa applies mind-body strategies, as she is certified in Clinical Trauma I/II. Additionally, she is in the process of working on advanced training in Neuropsychotherapy. Melissa is a believer in the capacity to change and helps her clients to meet their goals. She is also a Veteran and has worked with many who have served our country. 

When she's not at Vitality, she is a Licensure Clinical Supervisor for those looking for a nurturing, personable experience. Her prior experience includes being a part of the University of Missouri-Columbia’s School of Social Work as an Adjunct Professor. Outside of the academic world, she served as the Acting Social Service Director of an inpatient psychiatric facility.

In her free time, you can find Melissa practicing mindfulness on a river in Southern Missouri, camping, floating, or fishing. At home she tackles house projects. Melissa enjoys spending time with friends and family. She loves Yoga to strengthen her own mind-body connection.  Additionally, she enjoys exploring various artistic pursuits, such as taking classes in stained glass and jewelry making.
